Steering Committee

The Steering Committee provides overall program direction. The committee includes one representative from each of the active members of the North/West Passage program. The Steering Committee is responsible for organizing itself, establishing operating rules and for conducting business. The Steering Committee meets annually in person, monthly by webinar or as necessary to provide overall program direction. The North/West Passage Steering Committee currently includes the following members.

Member Benefits

The North/West Passage member states have identified many benefits they have gained from participating in the pooled fund including the following:

  • Establishing important contacts in member states.
  • Discussing issues on a topic with members before moving forward with a project.
  • Exchanging of traveler information with neighboring states.
  • Peer exchanges of information to share ITS experiences as well as operation and maintenance experiences.
  • Data sharing between state agencies and public safety.
  • Closer working efforts with border states.
  • Developing a program website to document project deliverables in one location.
  • Opportunities for increased participation during monthly and annual meetings with quality, focused meeting agendas and topics.
  • Conducting webinars that allowed other staff to get involved in program and project efforts (e.g., workshops), expanding knowledge of other state efforts as well as extending networks internally.
  • Opportunity to suggest project ideas for consideration and the technical resources and contacts to pursue them.
