North/West Passage has or is completing projects related to providing third-party mapping and navigation providers with event reports that cause route restrictions (Project 17.4: Communicating Route Restrictions to Third Party Mapping/Navigation Providers) and providing recommended routes when there is a closure on the primary route to mapping and navigation providers (Project 18.3: Providing Recommended Routes to Mapping and Navigation Companies When There is a Closure on the Primary Route).
However, North/West Passage members are also interested in learning how information provided from transportation agencies traveler information systems are displayed on third-party mapping and navigation provider applications. Preliminary findings from Minnesota DOT observing some information providers displays of traveler information have identified that not all events are displayed through 3rd Party applications.
The purpose of this project is to assess how events from North/West Passage traveler information systems are displayed on third-party mapping/navigation providers applications.
